Asia Trip-Day 4

Phnom Penh - Kratie

This morning I got up and reveled in the fact that I had a choice of clothing. The fact that I wore essentially the same outfit as last night was pure coincidence. Our bus company picked us up at our hotel and took us to the bus station and then, 6 hours later, to Kratie.

Upon arriving in Kratie, we were mobbed by hotel hawkers and barely escaped with our lives. Before getting settled into our hotel, we boarded the back of a pair of motos (scooters) and were whisked off to see the Mekong River Dolphins. They have flat noses, so they look like normal dolphins that have run into a wall. We were in the Cambodian version of a dugout canoe, with a motor and a propeller on the end of a long pole. We saw lots of dolphins, or at least we saw a few dolphins a lot. We also got to see the sun set over the Mekong. However, the ride home in the dark was a little scary.

Tomorrow we are in the back of a pickup truck for 6 hours, but we should be able to ride elephants at the end of it.
